Birthday

Discussing writing and meeting other writers as a fan-girl! Being among many gifted authors and up for an award myself! It's been an incredible weekend so far... What more could a gal ask for?

How about a rockin' birthday? Today -- right in the middle of the conference -- I turn 39... for the first and only time! Fabulous 40s here I come! I'll be whooping it up at the after dinner dancing tonight!

Happy Birthday to me

August 2 is my birthday. A time to reflect. A time to enjoy where I've reached in life, and to plan what I want to happen in the next year or years to reach other goals.

One year ago I was contracted to publish; today I am published. Last year I was just considering venturing forth to talk to readers and writers about my book; since April my life has been packed with readings, signings, conferences, and conversations with people I never dreamed. I guess one hope I have is next year to have the sequel published to similar success.

In my private life, successes are no less remarkable. I'm a mom, as many of you know, and my son enters high school in just a few weeks. Considering I wasn't expected to have children oh so long ago, this is an amazing journey to be on with him. And I'm glad that so far, he's continuing to share with me about it too.

I continue to support my spouse's goals as well. He says some of my drive has worn off on him achieving more of his goals. It's all good. His second band, Rub Her Sole, just lined up their second gig, playing at a local tavern. I'll have to upload a track or two sometime to share with you all.

Anyway, back to today. I've taken off a couple days from work for a bit of relaxation at the beach through Sunday. It's time for a little reflection, and a little fun as we gather some of our closest friends around us for an end-of-summer BBQ.

So, finally, this brings me to a short present for all of you, my readers.

Many of you should recognize Bren and Cass from "Turning Point". This is a reflective moment from the sequel, which I am currently piecing together. Please consider ordering TP, if you haven't already, from Amazon or SCP today. It'd be a great birthday present to me.

I hope all of you have a fabulous day.
