Woo hoo!
Incredible news! I received word a short story of mine has been accepted for publication in
Ultimate Lesbian Erotica Stories 2009, ed. Paul Florez,
Alyson Books. It's due out probably very early in 2009. My story is titled "Les Triumphante".
(I am still traveling to Phoenix, so I scrambled to email this to my blog from the airport's WiFi, sorry if the format's strange.)

Grey's Anatomy to explore coming out late in life
Found on
AfterEllen.com:
Shonda Rhimes Confirms Lesbian Relationship on "Grey's Anatomy"The creator of "Grey's Anatomy" (
ABC network), Shonda Rhimes, has confirmed that there will be a lesbian romance storyline between two characters who shared a kiss last season.
Rhimes is also interested in exploring the nauances of coming out later in life. "I think it's very different to go from being 19 and declare this," she said, "and to be a grown woman and declare this when your family's already thought something else."
Rhimes spoke with representatives from
GLAAD asking questions about the late in life coming out process, which leads me to hope that it will be a thorough storyline, putting on screen the struggles and questions a lot of women go through that their "I knew I was gay since puberty" lesbian and bisexual compatriots never really faced. Announcement
I know it has been extremely quiet from me for the last several months. I have been having a rough time in real life. However, I have finally made a few adjustments that should see some personal satisfaction increase in both the near and long term.
I gave my two week notice at my job today. I will be moving on to part-time work, including substitute teaching in the local (Orlando, FL) public schools, consulting in computer hardware and software for private clients, and hanging up my "shingle" as a
freelance editor.
The plan is that this will free up a great deal more of my time for writing, and I am going to turn more of my attention to writing for pay, whether that's just more novels and short stories, or also non-fiction articles and/or columns/guest blogger, I'm opening myself to the possibilities.
What does this mean for you, my readers and fans? Happily it means there will be more to read in the future, both in print and online.

ScribD
I was introduced to
ScribD.com through the blog
Paperback Writer a while ago, and threw up a few stories to see if people would read them, comment on them, etc.
It's been about a month, I guess. No comments yet, but a thumbs up or two, and hundreds of views. Since the descriptions of the stories have the URL to my website if they like what they read, I'm hoping it's a nifty new avenue to gain new readers.
If you are interested in viewing
my ScribD profile and the few stories I have uploaded as PDFs over there (no new stuff), check it out.

new interview posted
I participated in an interview at Joyce Anthony's Books and Authors blog:
http://joyceanthony.tripod.com/blogI talk a little bit about why and how I write, and tell a very embarrassing story of my youth. So head on over and read. Feel free to share the link, or post follow up questions in the comments.

audiobooks, e-books, films, oh my!
Lots of stuff happening around the industry lately. Creativity came on full throttle with the new year!
Karin Kallmaker, a longtime lesbian author, has a great new blog -- and a great new job, as Bella Books editorial director. Check out her blog,
Monday Morning Chocolate Break, and read all about it. Then check in regularly for her experience and advice on the writing life.
A new site/service has launched
L-Books, for computer-read audiobooks and e-books, all lesbian fiction titles. They have just a few to start, but the technology wave is clearly coming up. Next up I'm sure will be professionally read ones, full-blown audiobooks, or even dramatic readings, and movies/shorts. Only place to go is UP.
On that note, check out
Power UP!, the Professional Organization of Women in Entertainment Reaching UP. A donated copy of "Turning Point" helped them raise a little grant-seed money back in November, and I've kept up with the happenings. Many films end up on Logo and Here networks. Amazing stuff.
And then there's MOVIES. A pair of indie filmmakers in Arizona are in the midst of launching
Girls Shorts TV, a pay-per-view website for indie films of lesbian, bisexual and transgender women's interest. A friend of mine,
Linda Andersson, an indie filmmaker happily making films in Hollywood, is among the filmmakers whose work will be available in this more direct support venue. Check out the
Girls Shorts TV site to join during the preview period, and also check out
Linda's MySpace where she has wonderful trailers for several of her works like "Misconception" and "Moving Out" and "Torn".
I'm also in the midst of creating scripts from scenes in "Turning Point" for a local video production school (they need 5-minute scripts for the students to work production on). If/when it gets produced, I'll post it as part of the preview for
"Turning Point".
Since connecting up with the dramatic community I'm thinking about getting a few good voices to record dramatic readings of scenes from "Turning Point", too. We'll see where that goes.
